An early father's day fishing trip with my dad to my favorite spot, Smithville. I got there and someone was fishing in my spot(although my wife insists I do not own the spot but you guys know what I mean) so we had to fish a dock we haven't fish something I was not happy about. So after getting everything set up and being there maybe 30 min, the guy that was in our spot moves to another spot. I was like come on man, really. I was so tempted to move but fearful that we would pack up and someone would take the spot and we would lose that spot and the one we were fishing on. Don't you hate when that happens, but anyway we both caught a carp and a bunch of bull head catfish. We later went to our secret spot and I caught a dark 5# catfish. The carp I caught was 8.8# and the one my dad caught was 4#.

Another good day of fishing in one of my favorite carp spot. I had a couple of misfires but at least I caught one. I started the day off with a splash, the carp took the bait noticed it was hooked and jumped out the water. I run over to the rod try to bring him in and the hook comes out. Act 2 another take but this time the fish almost took my rod over the dock and yes I had my bait runner on, but must have had it turned up too high. Grab the rod and the line breaks, 14# vanish fluorocarbon broken, strong fish. Act 3 the charm, caught this one 7.40# the one in the pictures. Act 4 another good take but once again the line breaks. So it was a good day I could have bagged 4 carp but only got 1, but the action was on. I have to dial in my drag, calm down a little more and stop trying to bully these carp in. What can I say God is good.
